Bringing your group onto Padel Fast

Move an existing group or WhatsApp list onto Padel Fast: players you manage, players with their own account, and how claim links connect the two.

Two kinds of player

Most confusion when a group moves onto Padel Fast comes from one thing: a player can exist in two different ways, and they behave differently.

Player in your directoryPlayer with their own account
Who creates itYou — one by one, or from a CSV upload under PlayersThe player, by signing up or by claiming a link you sent
Who manages name, rating and detailsYou, by clicking the player's row under PlayersOnly the player. You can see their profile but not edit it
Needs an email or the appNo — ideal for players who will never sign inYes — an email and a password. The app is optional, the website works
Where you find themPlayers in your dashboardYour league's member list, and anywhere you search for users

Both kinds can play in your tournaments and divisions, and ratings move after competitive games for both. The difference is only who is in charge of the profile.

Choose a route for each player

You don't have to pick one route for the whole group. Decide per player:

  • Keep them in your directory if they just want to turn up and play. You stay in control of their rating, and they never need to sign in.
  • Send them a claim link if they want to follow their own results, chat, or join tournaments themselves. They get an account with the rating and history you already set up.
  • Let them sign up on their own only if they already have an account, or prefer to. You then have no say over the rating they choose, so this is the route that most often leads to ratings that need correcting.

Recommended for an existing group: create everyone in your directory first (a CSV upload is quickest), set ratings you trust, then send claim links to the players who want an account.

Join requests from players who signed up themselves

Players who signed up on their own reach your league by tapping Request to join. Their request appears at the top of the league page with their name and username. If someone never set a name, the request shows "No name set" together with their email, so you can still tell who it is.

If you accept the request of a player who is also in your directory, you now have the same person twice. Pick one:

  • Keep the account: accept the request, then delete their directory entry under Players. Their rating is whatever they set on their account.
  • Keep the directory entry: decline the request and ask the player to delete their account (Settings, then Delete account), then send them a claim link. They get an account with your rating and the games they played in your directory.

Deleting an account can't be undone and removes the games played on it. Make sure the directory entry still exists before you suggest it — a claim link needs one.

Checklist for the first week

  • Upload your player list under Players, and check every rating.
  • Ask your players which route they prefer before anyone signs up on their own.
  • Send claim links one by one, and resend any that expire.
  • Share the player guide "Claiming your player profile" with everyone who gets a link.
  • Each player needs their own email. Couples who share one address can't both claim — keep one of them in your directory.
  • Accept join requests only from players who are not already in your directory, or tidy up the duplicate straight away.
