Here is the updated review with your new points seamlessly integrated. It keeps the natural British English tone while strongly conveying your frustration about the tennis lessons, the extra charges, and the poor experience at closing time: I am quite disappointed with this David Lloyd club, especially given the premium membership fees. My expectations were high, but the reality has fallen far short. There is a noticeable lack of general maintenance and care throughout the premises. For example, there are cobwebs in several areas, which is simply unacceptable for a high-end gym. In the changing rooms, the shower gel is clearly watered down—I know this because I visit other David Lloyd clubs where this isn’t the case. The sports facilities and classes are also a major let-down. The rackets available for use are damaged and literally falling apart, and the court surfaces are peeling in multiple places. Furthermore, for a club where tennis should be a primary focus, the availability of lessons is shockingly poor, especially for beginners. It is a constant struggle to book just one session, and trying to secure another one the following week is just as difficult. I have been a member for over a year, and it remains nearly impossible to get a slot. To make matters worse, they have recently started charging for equipment used during classes (such as tennis balls), which always used to be included. In the gym itself, getting chilled water is a constant struggle. The cold water dispenser is out of order for most of the month; it gets repaired, works for about a week, and then breaks down all over again. Additionally, there is only one leg extension machine, which is always occupied. Management really needs to look at adding more duplicates of high-demand equipment. Another highly frustrating issue is how they handle closing times. The app states the club closes at 9 PM or 10 PM depending on the day, but they actually shut down 15 minutes early. Even worse, long before closing, the staff practically try to push you out the door. They start frantically cleaning and moving equipment around you while you are still trying to finish your workout, creating a very unpleasant and unwelcoming atmosphere. Finally, the recent refurbishment felt entirely superficial. The spa area saw very little structural improvement. Both saunas and the jacuzzi are still far too small to accommodate the number of members using the club. Overall, it feels like this club is cutting corners, charging more for less, and falling well below the usual David Lloyd standard.
Myself and my partner was shown around by Jake and he explained all options available to us, we both signed up straight away and would definitely rate our experience with Jake as 10/10! Thank you
